Choosing the right plant for your home guides

When you’re searching for the right plant for your home, office space or as a present to someone you love, you have to think hard about what kind of plant you want, how much time you can dedicate to it, and to what conditions is the plant going to be exposed.

For beginners with little or no experience in plant growing, we recommend some less demanding plants like: Aglaonema, Sansevieria, Aspidistra, Philodendron, Bromeliad … Leave the taking care of more demanding plant to more skillful people and with more experience.

Size is one of the factors that need special attention. If you choose low-growing plant, they won’t fit well to an empty wall, and high-growing plant will seem unstable if you put them in the window. And of course, the plants grow. Before buying, at the time, small Dracaena or Ficus, you have to know that they will grow to a much larger scale. Before choosing your plant you have to turn your attention to leaf color, which should be even and without any visible spots or color changes. When you have chosen your plant a brought it to your home, be sure to monitor it for a week to see how it’s adapting to the new environment. Be sure to water it using staled water on room temperature, and keep as far away as possible from direct sunlight. You can move it later to a more permanent place, in which will, if it’s good, because the plant to grow new leaves. You have to know that there are several factors which influence plant development: light, temperature, humidity. Optimal temperature is between 15° and 20° Celsius.
Sunlight position:

This means a position with a lot of sunlight, but without direct exposure to it. There are several plants that grow well in these conditions: Flamingo flower (Anthurium), Azalea, Begonia, Bromeliad, Ivy, Cyclamen, Ficus, Dumb cane (Dieffenbachia)…
Little sunlight position:

This means a position near a window turned to the east or west. If you have the conditions in your home, you have to protect your plant during the summer. Best plants for these conditions are: Spider Plant (Chlorophytum), Chrysanthemum, Croton, Rubber bush (Ficus elastica), Waxplant (Hoya), and Christmas Star (Poinsettia), African lily.

Shadow:

Spider PlantShadow plants are usually located far from windows, but not in complete darkness. If you wish to determine what the correct amount of light is adequate for these plants, a simple test will be sufficient. If you can barely read newspaper without light, that’s the correct amount of light. Plants that grow best in these conditions are: Chinese evergreen, Aspidistra, Philodendron and Asplenium.
